The company has an immediate opening for Systems Engineer / Lead Architect for our Fog Computing Platform Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the design, development and maintenance of core fog network/computing platform to create the foundation for innovative products and services. The lead architect will lead the entire platform lifecycle right from concept stage until delivery and post launch support. The successful candidate will also drive the mobile product platform strategy globally, and shall create libraries and frameworks to support third party innovations that would leverage the platform. The specific job duties and responsibilities will include but is not limited to the following tasks:

  • Leverage the patents and intellectual property (IP) license that the company had acquired and developed to design and develop proprietary mobile products and services and help launch them globally
  • Lead the design and development of the platform architecture and create a framework for foundational capabilities to enable new product development
  • Develop a commercial grade software product on mobile devices to boost bandwidth utilizing idle network resources of nearby devices
  • Analyze user needs, software requirements and technical constraints to determine feasibility of product design
  • Design and implement fog computing products on mobile platform, which includes GUI, networking and database, using Java, C/C++
  • Maintain documentation of the product development
  • Modify the existing software to correct errors, adapt to new requirements and improve performance
  • Innovate and create new technology platforms and product concepts based the Fog Computing paradigm, leveraging and extending the existing IP
  • Participate in the product strategy and roadmap globally
  • Provide daily updates and weekly/bi-weekly product demos

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or 4-year college; or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from an accredited university or 4-year college plus 2-5 years of industry experience working in the software engineer capacity developing mobile applications and web-based enterprise applications
  • Strong programming in Java, Python, JavaScript, C, C++ on Linux and Android
  • Extensive experience in network programming, especially in TCP/IP programming and HTTP/HTTPS
  • Experience in full stack software development with LAMP or WAMP
  • Proficient in tools such as wireshark, tcpdump, IDE such as Android studio and Eclipse
  • Experience with all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including systems analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation
  • Experience in Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and / or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology

RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively involved in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of core fog network/computing platform to create the foundation for innovative products and services. The software engineer will participate in the entire platform lifecycle management. The successful candidate shall be able to leverage the platform capabilities to develop innovative value-added products and services as well as develop libraries and frameworks to support third party innovations. Specifically, the Software Engineer / Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Leverage the patents and intellectual property (IP) license that the company had acquired and developed to design and develop proprietary mobile products and services and help launch them globally
  • Analyze, design, develop and implement, redesign, enhance, customize and integrate innovative IOT products and services leveraging Smartiply’s fog computing platform
  • Perform requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and technical support of Smartiply products and customize per customers’ requirements
  • Develop proof-of-concept prototypes to showcase the underlying technologies and business values the technologies can bring
  • Design, develop, and enhance mobile, networking, and embedded system software modules for IoT products
  • Participate in the integration of Smartiply IoT Gateway with the fog computing platform
  • Enhance proprietary algorithms to improve systems performance
  • Develop and test systems APIs to enable client software integration
  • Develop tools to facilitate system configurations and troubleshooting
  • Establish performance benchmarks and fine tune system configuration parameters
  • Improve systems stability and robustness
  • Perform periodic code review and version control and maintain good documentation of the product development
  • Launch products and manage product life cycles
  • Troubleshoot issues found during trials and production
  • Provide daily updates and weekly/bi-weekly product demos

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or 4-year college; or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from an accredited university or 4-year college plus 2+ years of industry experience working in the software engineer capacity developing mobile applications and web-based enterprise applications

JOB LOCATIONS

Basking Ridge, NJ with occasional / brief travels to other products development offices in Scottsdale, AZ and Duluth, GA and domestic and overseas / global travels to customer’s site during product launching or implementation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Involved throughout SDLC, from analysis, design, coding, development, testing, debugging, implementation, launching, customization, enhancement, documentation, and maintenance of proprietary mobile products in Fog Network / Computing Platform (hardware and software), launching and support them nationally and globally
  • Design, develop and implement the Fog platform architecture and create a framework for foundational capabilities to enable new product development
  • Develop commercial grade software products on mobile devices to boost the bandwidth utilizing the idle network resources of nearby devices; analyze user needs, software requirements and technical constraints to determine feasibility of product design
  • Design and implement fog computing products on mobile platform, which includes GUI, networking and databases
  • Customize the products to meet customer's requirements and needs; maintain documentation of the product development
  • Enhance and modify the existing software to correct errors, adapt to new requirements and improve performance
